Michele Mowat's traditional art work has evolved from an early childhood through a need for self expression, and to bring enjoyment to others over the years.
Michele works as a freelance artist and has a steady commitment as a graphic artist. She spends her time between creating both traditional fine art and digital art. Over the past five years she has been commissioned by companies on various pieces and last year became a published artist.
Digital Art
Digital fine art is the ultimate mixed media art, offering the artist exciting infinate possiblilities for self expression and the collector something new to study.
Artist's may choose to use traditional techniques in their computer art, producing new styles and innovation. Though a computer is used to produce these works, it is still the artist making the work, the computer and its peripherals are just the artist's tools.
Some of the styles emerging are, photo-manipulation and collage, natural media, algorithmic or machine art and synthesis or intergrative art.
Photography
Taking various shots with a digital camera is another interest Michele has when travelling the country capturing shots of interest like mountains, sunsets, flowers, architecture, animals and coastlines which are sometimes used as inspiration for her artwork.
Graphics
When Michele moved to Canberra in 2001, her skills were further tested as she moved into the digital medium by teaching herself a number of computer programs, then turning every job into a learning experience. Her new appointment and form of artistry had to fit within the framework of internet advertising. As with most smaller businesses as anyone knows, there wasn't the luxury of time to learn, you have to hit the ground running.
A few years ago, the company started a tourism website www.GoSeeAustralia.com.au in which Michele was heavily involved. New fresh ideas were brought to the tourism market that other market leaders had not thought of or implimented. As the website grew and became more popular, the number of staff grew and some well known personalities in the industry were employed for sales and marketing. A full time tourism editor was employed to write articles and answer questions in real time on the website. With everyone's dedication and efforts the success of the website has had such impact that overseas travel agents make bookings based on the information they research from the website. Go See Australia now has become a source of information and shares with the media and government bodies.
Michele continues working as required producing icons, banners, logos, buttons, cabin plan layouts and repairing travel photographs.
